Milan Men’s FW25 Recap
Milan Men's Week has delivered some of this season’s most memorable and stylistic revivals in fashion from recent memory. And with the week wrapping up recently, here are our favorite shows of the season.
Prada reintroduced the American frontiersman with a modern twist as models walked the runway adorned in animal pelt dusters, ostentatious cowboy boots, and patched leather suits. Alongside the reimagined Western wear were a variety of expertly crafted leather bags, which perfectly complemented the adventurous spirit of the collection. Prada delivered its own rendition of modern masculinity, presenting a polished yet rugged character who lives on the edge of discovery, exploring the fringes of what male fashion has been and could be.
MM6 must have built a secret time machine in their atelier, as they have blessed us with looks straight from the future, full of bold textures, color palettes, and sleek visors. Rich purples, electric blues, and sumptuous browns glimmered and glistened as models posed nonchalantly in the spotlight. Studded handbags and pocketed leather gloves emerged from a world where utility and design are synonymous, where functionality is not sacrificed in the name of fashion. If MM6 is any indication of the future of fashion, then the future is definitely bright.
Dolce & Gabbana has resurrected the sensation of opulence for their FW25 show “Paparazzi.” Channeling the golden age of Hollywood, models emerged from a barrage of paparazzi camera flashes, dressed appropriately for the red-carpeted runway. Massive fur coats, double-breasted pinstripe suits, and chiseled jawlines were on full display, reminiscent of the days when humanity was at its most indulgent. Yet, perhaps this is exactly what the world needs at the moment: a return of sensuality and beauty draped in perfectly tailored trousers.
At Zegna, models sauntered over grassy knolls as if they were wandering the grounds of their massive countryside estate. Neutral, earthy tones and rich, textured wool filled the collection, infusing it with a relaxed yet sophisticated air. One can’t help but imagine an attractive professor or researcher with a pair of reading glasses dangling against their loosely buttoned shirt, sitting on the edge of a polished mahogany desk while fingering through a thick manuscript. Zegna presents a collection, much like this fantasy, that is both thoughtful and mature, yet playful and exciting.
JordanLuca celebrated love this season with their newest FW25 show entitled “The Wedding.” Featuring looks with patterns meshed together and double-collared shirts, this collection was all about two separate ideas and beings coming together as one. In turn, this fusion creates something entirely new, born out of the love between the harsh and the gentle, the crude and the polished. It was a rebellion filled with joy and a celebration of love in its most raw and powerful form. As JordanLuca writes on their Instagram, “Love should accommodate failings, imperfections, and mistakes and shows us exactly who we are.”
