CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso poke fun at the current state of the music industry and their own artistic insecurities following their newfound massive success. The film begins right after the duo performs their Tiny Desk Concert, which, to date, has garnered 27 million views and reached viral status on the internet. As they hang out with their friends and bask in the glory, a mysterious music producer named Gymbaland approaches them, offering his services to help them achieve massive success in the United States and win the famed ‘Latin Chaddy’ award. This encounter increases the pressure they already feel to perform and raises doubts in both of their minds about their talent and the impostor syndrome they experience, encapsulated in the song Impostor.

However, in order to win the Latin Chaddy, Gymbaland seeks guidance from CHAD-GPT, an AI that advises the duo to completely change their persona by doing things such as learning English, taking steroids, working out, designing a collection for Bershka, and writing a song with the lyrics “glow up,” “vibe check,” and “hashtag.” Paco and CA7RIEL perform their song #TETAS, which satirizes botox injections, throbbing pecs, and identity transformation, in a video heavily reminiscent of boy bands like The Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. Despite all their efforts, the duo reaches a breaking point and decides that going solo would be better for both of them.

On the night of the Latin Chaddy Awards, Paco and CA7RIEL arrive in their new personas, surrounded by posses of vapid, clout-chasing companions. But when they lock eyes across the ballroom, Paco begins to sing Re Forro, a song about the self-hatred that comes with denying one’s true self, featuring lyrics like “I achieved my dream, but at what cost?” and “I convinced myself that I’m someone else.” Paco takes the stage from Gymbaland to serenade CA7RIEL, who then breaks into his own verse singing “I will always offend you” and “It’s not my fault, it’s in my DNA”. The performance culminates in the two dancing together in a circle of chads as Gymbaland is carried away, ultimately abandoning their chances of winning a Latin Chaddy to save their friendship.

In the end, Paco and CA7RIEL perform a rendition of their Tiny Desk Concert in the middle of a diner, surrounded by their bandmates, for the song El Día Del Amigo. The two sing and rap about jumping off bridges with friends, including one line in English: “I couldn’t fucking do it without you.” The entire film is a brilliant celebration of authenticity and friendship in a world that constantly promotes and rewards deception and fraud. It seamlessly blends multiple art forms and is packed with countless internet cultural references, perfectly capturing who CA7RIEL and Paco Amoroso are—both as musicians and as human beings.
